Babettes feast

Annually for more than 20 years we have organized a special gourmet and culture weekend called Babettes feast.

The concept is based on the Danish author Karen Blixen’s book “Babettes feast” and is as fascinating today as when it was written in 1950. From the very beginning more than 2000 guests have enjoyed Russian caviar, truffles, quails and all the other delicacies described in the book. This year will not be different and will add new guests to the gourmet experience.

In Keeping with Tradition

Upon arrival, Friday evening, you will be served a delicious 4 course set meal.

Saturday morning you will eat breakfast when it suits you.

Around noon you are invited to participate a seminar about beer and Aquavit, and you will be able to taste a selection of products. You will be served beer from our own brewery alongside other brands from all over Norway.

Lunch is served once the seminar is over. A delicious oxtail soup.

Lunch is followed by the screening of the Oscar winning film “Babettes feast”.

With the images from the film fresh in mind, you are invited to join Babettes feast in the dining room in the hotel where the exact same menu will be served as written about in the book. Great French wines, quails and cheese from the Pyrenees are but a few of the exotic ingredients that has been shipped to Tuddal for the occasion.

To make the evening complete, Coffee and Cognac are served in the living room after the meal.

Babettes feast has proven to be very popular. Get in touch early for bookings. If we are fully booked, we will add you to our waiting list or offer the possibility to reserve a room for the event the following year. In case of cancellations, we will contact those on the waiting list.

Join our mid-week that starts tuesday the 31st of October and finish thursday 2nd of November.

Our last weekend of Babettes start on friday 3rd of November and finish sunday 5th of november.
